Description of the magical and mining town: The municipality of San Sebastian del Oeste is located in the west of the State of Jalisco, in the coordinates 20°39'45'' to 21°02'30'' north latitude and 104°35'00'' to 104°51'00'' west longitude, at an altitude of 1,480 meters above sea level.

It is bordered to the north by the state of Nayarit; to the south by Mascota; to the east by Guachinango and Mascota; and to the west by Puerto Vallarta. The territorial extension is 1,400.13 km2. The municipality has 5,626 inhabitants and is mainly dedicated to the primary sector. The average annual temperature is 18.7 ° C., and it has an average annual precipitation of 1441.6 millimeters with rainfall from June to October.

It is a mining town that had its heyday in colonial times, it had up to 20,000 inhabitants; however, its population decreased in the nineteenth century because of the closure of the mines.
