Everything you need to know before boarding
Unlike massive commercial tours, at Explora Vallarta we prioritize education and animal welfare. Our guides are certified biologists who share scientific data, use hydrophones to listen to whales, and guarantee an ethical and respectful sighting (NOM-131-SEMARNAT).
Most of our tours have strategic meeting points (Punta de Mita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Marina Vallarta, etc.). Hotel pick-up service is mainly available for private groups or specific transportation services.
Tours operate with light rain, as marine life remains active. We only cancel if the Port Captain closes navigation or if mountain conditions are dangerous. In that case, we reschedule your tour or refund you 100%.
Our vessels are stable, designed for small groups. However, if you are sensitive to motion, we recommend taking a seasickness pill (like Dramamine) 30 minutes before setting sail. The sea is usually very calm in the mornings.
We love animals, but due to federal regulations of Protected Natural Areas (like Marietas Islands) and for safety on boats, pets are not allowed on maritime tours.
Yes! All our tours (Whales, Marietas, Scuba, Fishing, etc.) can be privatized for your family or group of friends. It's the best way to live the experience at your own pace. Contact us for a custom quote.
The official season is from December 8th to March 23rd. During these months, humpback whales visit Banderas Bay to breed and give birth, offering an incredible natural spectacle.
No. Due to Mexican regulations (NOM-131) and for safety, swimming with humpback whales is strictly prohibited in Mexico. However, we have a special "Wild Dolphins" tour where, if conditions permit, it is possible to swim with them.
Access to the Hidden Beach (Playa del Amor) is limited to 116 people per day by CONANP and depends on the tide. We manage spots in advance and there is a 90% chance of access, but final access always depends on sea conditions and federal availability on the day.
It includes full snorkeling gear, life jacket, port and CONANP fees, marine biologist guide, water, and fruit. It does not include tips or transportation to the departure point (unless booked separately).
"I had many doubts about traveling with my baby and Jorge explained everything patiently, I enjoyed the tour to the fullest. Excellent service!"
"Very clear with prices and what is included. No fine print. Recommended."
Now that you've resolved your doubts, it's time for adventure! Discover our expeditions guided by experts.
